Again one of those 'started scribbling something and it ended up as something bigger than planned.' Always happens to me. And unfortunately, other way around as well [more often actually, I'm lazy.]
I had no plans with this, I just did stuff and this happened over a day on/off. I've got nothing else to say. Mushroom deer. Aaaaand I'm off to bed. At least I was productive today, eyy!
For one, as far as impact, the moment I saw this I thought of the Elk from Fantasia 2000, in the last (I believe) segment that was based on the firebird suite, but, rather than be the companion to the Spring Sprite in that segment, were he designed this way, he WOULD be the spring magic in the forest. I love the idea of "real" mushrooms growing from this body and antlers, but I like it even more here because they're made of energy, as mysterious and ethereal as elk themselves are in their forest habitat.
In keeping with the mystery, I like that you made the energy mushrooms match that of the fire coming form his mouth, with is all too appropriate given the posture males take when they make their screeching call. If I met him in the forest and his eyes were glowing and he looked as though he were going to shoot a fireball at me, I would promptly high-tail out of his forest. He makes the perfect guardian of the forest, I can tell you.
